What happened to the Baron. Terry Rogers sold the the restoration to Brian Sherk of Indiana in 2001. No news since. I asked a couple of crew members in the pits this year and know one seems to know. I have heard rumors of the fuselage up for sale. Does anyone know?

I'm also in search of flying photos of the Red Baron to blow up to poster size to add to my collection.

The fuse was not the original RB,there was pretty much nothing left of it. I think the fuse that was to be used for the recreation was a new build fuse. Only the data plate (if that was even going to be used) would have been a piece of the original Red Baron. Randy Goss owns what is probably the biggest piece left of the bird.

I believe the part in question is the fuselage 'skin' that Rogers and Sherk have/had. But that is all it is...just about an 8 foot section of skin that says "Michelob Light" on it. To the best of my knowledge, there was nothing 'inside' of it.

Goss has the modified engine mounts, and PoF has the tail, canopy, and one of the gear doors on display, and the data plate and registration number went to Wee Willy II.

Long ago (when I was just a kid) I had 2 pieces of the props.

1 full length blade, and a piece about 1.6 feet long.

When we moved I lobied my dad to keep em, but he wouldnt hear a thing about it and took em down to be recycled

How I wish I still had em.

After mentioning the mounts to me in the pits last week, thanks for posting those. It even has some skin on it - neat. I can make out the top/left part of the "M" in Michelob on the second image.

But the big stuff we snuck out in my buddy's mobile home.

The transmission was a '53
And the motor turned out to be a '73
And when we tried to put in the bolts all the holes were gone.

So we drilled it out so that it would fit
And with a little bit of help with an A-daptor kit

Now the headlight' was another sight
We had two on the left and one on the right
But when we pulled out the switch all three of 'em come on.

The back end looked kinda funny too
But we put it together and when we got thru
Well, that's when we noticed that we only had one tail-fin
About that time my wife walked out
And I could see in her eyes that she had her doubts
But she opened the door and said "Honey, take me for a spin."

So we drove up town just to get the tags
And I headed her right on down main drag
I could hear everybody laughin' for blocks around
But up there at the court house they didn't laugh
'Cause to type it up it took the whole staff

I'm impressed to hear this from someone of your generation! When I was your age I wore out an 8-track copy of several of his albums and still have a few of the origial LPs. Not that you'd necessarily know what those things are :-)

I used to use 8-track tapes to scare away dinosaurs from my cave...
