Since we're on the topic... what are the major/minor differences that RB had compared to say PM ? I know MAII was a one-off in terms of aero surfaces.

Can you get to a local Barnes & Noble? If so, the current issue of Warbird Digest (with the Aleutian Tiger P-40 on the cover) has Part 1 of an article called Super Stangs. It has a technical breakdown of the RB-51. The next issue of Warbird Digest, which should hit the stands in a week or two, has Part II of Super Stangs...and it includes a similar breakdown/comparison to Precious Metal.

Realistically, about the only thing they had in common was the engine and the prop...and the fact that they had modified canopies and clipped wings.
