As a moderator and one who works with computer installs/training in homes and small businesses on the East Coast, I catch some of the "good" stuff those advertisers want us to see here on the boards early in the am *sometimes*. I can see a young aviator who stops by and and wants to be part of us guys/gals here on the board to see what goes on in Air racing. But mom walks by as an ugly post is up such as the "rack jobs" and other body parts being explained by an "advertiser". She tells him, "Don't let me see you go there, I don't care if it is a site on air racing, It doesn't look like it to me young man/lady." The kid gets shot down before he can talk his/her dad/mom into taking him to Reno for his Birthday present/vacation. Though this is a small chance of happening, so is the small chance it prob. was that some of our air racers became air racers or pilots in general.

So I vote for the register only as well...

pull the box out of under me now... before I like it......

I don't know if any of you read Slashdot (http://slashdot.org/).
They have a discussion board with a point system from 0-5
Posts from registered users start at 1.
The regular users can add or subtract points to a given post according to it's quality.
When you view the discussion you default condition is to not even see posts below 1 point.
This way, the substandard posts are never seen by anyone except people who have set there preferanced to see them on purpose.

I believe you should own what you say. Registered is the only way.

Thanks Wayne. I for one truly appreciate this site and all the work that goes into it. I've learned more in the last year on this site than I have in the last 30 years of sitting on the fence. While it would be a shame to miss a gold nugget from a legend or two once in a while, ya' gotta take care of yourself. So do us all a favor and do what you gotta do to still have fun with this site.

Ahh.. well, the price, and we WILL have to pay it is..

Once in a great while, guys like Tiger, Smoot, Button, the rest, drop by... they are not really into message boards.. they see something, hit reply and type out a bunch a stuff.. then hit send.

NOTICE: YOU HAVE TO BE REGISTERED TO POST...

Or whatever comes up when you post unregged in a regged system (I bought the software, I didn't write it!)

We lose a very valuable contribution to the communication system..

Couldn't we just train em when we see em. I fly out of Napa and can stop by Yolo to see if I can track down Button. He shares a hangar with the guy that does my annuals. Maybe you could set them up with an ID -and send them an e-mail telling them how to log on.

It is just a few hours into "reg only" (it is in effect right ?)
and I have noticed a benefit.

I find it to be a easier "read" to view this forum now.

....I also find that those who give some general area of location,
allow for a better understanding of (at times) or at least an interesting
add-in for our diversities.
