Re: Good things to talk about

How many different racers does that make now? Risky Business, Mis-Fit, Stiletto, Voodoo, Southern Cross, Argonaut, and the Buick. There's got to be a few more in there over the years that I've missed.[/QUOTE]

Rare Bear & Bad Attitude?? also.

      Matt,

Sounds like you had a great time, I guess there is only two things left to do to the Buick, put in an environmental control system, ie a/c and an inflight entertainment system. You could pre-program the system for the desired temp, and your music choices. A little "Kashmir" for the down in dirty in the groove thing. Complete the course in 07:20, you would be pulling up and cooling down with "We are the Champions of the world".

Choice for the tow vehicle, got to be a 1970 Buick Riv "Boat Tail", chopped and dropped, silver metal flake, 370 hp 510 foot pounds of torque under the hood.

Best to your son, and all the servicemen and women in harms way.

Re: Good things to talk about

I have not spent much time talking with Matt, but in the course of getting the details ironed out for the Buick t-shirt, I found the whole Sanders family a true delight to work with. Never once did I get the impression that they had better things to do than fool with me, rather the exact opposite was the case. As happy, cheerful, and down to earth as they come. And after reading Matt's post, I would say he is part of the family too. Tell your son and his buddies that we are eternally grateful for the job they are doing. Thanks, Chuck

Did they have to use lps 2 or 3 to slide you in the cockpit???? HA HA. it was a good year, except for leaving 30 gals. of gas on the ramp when we left out in Bad Attitude, everything was peachy! My son Spc. Bryan jr. just headed back to Bagdad for his second tour, Lord watch over them all. See ya in a year Matt. Bryno

Great post, I agree, those laps were the same, lap, after lap. Really low, and really fast.

Didn't there used to be a Jaguar sponsorship on the cowling? I know it IS a British airframe, but seeing 'Jaguar' on the Buick was just wierd.

Cool car, and it would make a good tug. But the SUPPORT vehicle has to be a station wagon. You can't haul many R-4360 jugs in a Riviera. Not without mussing the leather upholstry, anyway....

I'm sorry...but now you're treading on sacred territory. Everyone KNOWS that the Sanders team support vehicle is the blue and white van. It's been around even longer than Deadnot.

United SFO maint base..... back in the day

As a new employee at the base in 1966 (saw 2800s and 3350s) still being o'hauled for other customers..... had a talk with a shop foreman and he said the 4360s were a pain with some sort of problems.... (in comparison to thr dbl'row motoers.

Never heard any run but did hear quite a few duble row motoers go thru there dyno deal. I think the dc7s were still flying and the big strato?cruiser was 86ed.

If i remember , no complaints with these motoers..... gee, coulda filled my lunch box with a million perfictally usable 3350 / 2800pistons.... there were, by the way, sawed up ashtrays everywhere.... sob

whats a going rate for a old 3350 or 2800 piston these days.
