We are in the final stages of resolving the issues with the forums move to the new location. After talking with tech support, the only solution was to send him a copy of all the images. This will take time - but we know the fix SO it's only a matter of time now.

It looks like Provenance Fighter Sales is indeed the new owner. Glacier Girl landed at French Valley Airport in southern California late today escorted by the Mustang "Tempus Fugit." I do not know who was flying the P-38 or the Mustang, but pilot Steve Hinton from Chino was in attendance.

        ACK! What....?!?!?

A P-38 flew over Flabob Airport in Riverside, Ca. during the Fly-in/ Show there on Sunday. It was about 2:30 p.m. or so. It made a couple of high circles around the field and kept going to wherever it was headed. It certainly looked like GG, but I never figured it actually WAS, I was thinking it was Planes of Fame's P-38...wow...I saw GG! I wonder if he made a pass over March Air Field and wagged the wings at the P-38 group there....

I'm not sure that anyone other than Hinton has flown 'Glacier Girl' since it was restored.

Yup. IIRC, he is the ONLY pilot of "Glacier Girl" due to insurance reasons. I'm not sure if that will be different now with the change of ownership.

It was Steve, he departed the Nellis show Sun afternoon. I can't see this situation changing, especially since the guy running Provenance is a good personal friend of Steve's.

So what does the future hold for the museum at Middlesboro? Was the collection there included in the sale?

I've heard that Bob Cardin is moving West to continue to look after 'Glacier Girl' under its new ownership.

Correct. Cardin is headed out here and the museum was included.

                    Re: Glacier Girl Sold???

Hello all...I just happened upon this discussion. Even though I'm a few months late, I thought I'd jump in anyway.

I live in Middlesboro, and own a plane based at 1A6, just two hangar rows away from the former home of the Glacier Girl. When I first moved to town, everybody told me the first site I had to see was the P-38. This was before I actually even bought a plane or began hanging out at the airport.

The first time I laid eyes on the Glacier Girl, I was simply amazed. What a beautiful bird. Even after I'd seen the plane dozens of times, I couldn't help stopping in every few weeks and staring some more, and of course visiting with Bob and the gang. Colonel Bob is a fine man, and a great pilot. We'll miss him greatly at the airport.

The museum has turned in their hangar, and it'll be vacated in just a couple of weeks. It's odd now, not having the Glacier Girl on field. Every weekend, at least a few folks fly in wanting to see her, but not knowing she has been sold. It'll be strange taxiing buy now and knowing that somebody else occupies that hangar. There's just no way the new occupants could be nearly as cool!

Yes, it's a shame that nobody has bothered to change the website, which is still inviting visitors "7 days a week 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m." I wonder how many disappointed visitors still turn up expecting to see 'Glacier Girl' and the museum based on this info?

                        Re: Glacier Girl Sold???

I too have joined this conversation late, but I've been following this restoration since '92. However, I had no idea this was in the works. The Schoffner family has now posted an announcement on the Lost Squandron Website regarding the sale dated March 22/07. It appears they had been working with Provenance in handling the England trip, but then sold the plane and the museum out right. Provenance then sold it for this "record amount" and wham... the plane is out West along with Bob Cardin as Mike51 and John H. stated. My question is this... the Schoffner family's states one of the reasons to sell was "raising the significant resources to make the trip". IMHO, that is a copout but I'd like to hear other member's guesses on how much they think the trip would cost. There are other notations about cost in the notice that makes me wonder why Roy could afford to do this but now the family all of a sudden can't.

So does anyone know where the plane's location is NOW? Is it with Rod Lewis in Texas or what? I'm just curious because it's been flying from Middlesboro to California and now Texas and I haven't seen any pictures. My guess is it's at Chino but I'm not sure...

Yes, it is at Chino being prepped for the flight over the pond.
