We are in the final stages of resolving the issues with the forums move to the new location. After talking with tech support, the only solution was to send him a copy of all the images. This will take time - but we know the fix SO it's only a matter of time now.

      Hey Guy's.

I am bummed that GG has gone to Texas. It was nice having her here at French Valley. Today I saw another P-38 leaving with an escort. I thought that the only other flying Lightning was in Chino and had the same markings as Glacier Girl. This one was silver and was painted with the "Normandy Invasion stripes." Did someone get a new skin? Or am I mistaken at what I saw?

      Thanks,

I was out at POF over the weekend as they are putting Princess Elizabeth together for us. The P-51C was parked next to Glacier Girl in the hangar. They were running GG to do a prop balance on her engines on Fri.
I also went up to Rialto to visit some friends and they have that silver P-38 up there after doing an IRAN on the aircraft. That was the Junior Burchinal/ Silberman/ Dave Price/ William Lyon now owned by Jack somebody who started Behr Paints. He's around 80 and has a nice P-51 and the P-38 along with a project P-51. Steve Hinton was doing some post rebuild flight for them.

            RedDog,

I can understand how it would be frustrating to have a local treasure leave the area.. but, I'll say this. Glacier Girl went to a great guy (and family) she will receive impeccable care and attention and will likely be in the public eye more often than she could have been with previous owner, given the situation there..

Its been 17 years since I was last at Chino....dang, look at all the track housing sprouting up on the hills. Bummer......

I wonder how well those houses are selling. How would a realtor sell the view of the prison, and aroma of the cow pastures?

What cow pastures???? They are being developed into track housing faster than the hillsides. At least the Chino Valley haze obscures the sight of them 90% of the time.

                    Re: Glacier Girl Sold???

Before the POF 50th gala event in Jan I hadn't been back to Chino since I went to PA in 1995.
In those 12 years many of the cows have gone and are quickly being replaced by homes.
My question is how is the nasal nav aid going to br replaced? In the haze that was how you knew you were close to the airport when you smelled the cows.
The winter rains often brought flooded roads as I tried to get to the airport. I had a jeep CJ7 and remember passing ladies and gents stuck at Merrill and Grove. They would be standing next to there flooded car hip deep in brown water and it wasn't muddy water. Every time you started the jeep until about July you would still get a little smell of that water.
One time when I worked for John Muszala the Pacific Fighter's hangar flooded with that water. That brings a new meaning to the phrase- "work Stinks".

And when I left PA (Bucks County) in 1987 the cornfields were quickly being replaced by homes. It's the way of things, I suppose.

Thats interesting, I now live in Bucks, where there are just a few cornfields left and many $400k homes being built.
I didn't get to Bucks until 98. 95 to 98 I lived in Lancaster Township with the Amish. From Chino to the Amish. That was culture shock.

It's still airshows, we just use a team of mules instead of a tug to tow the mustangs.
It just hard to inspect the inside of the fuel tanks using a popane lantern.

Do you have to grow a beard and wear a straw hat to fly in the airshow?

                                Bob Hoover wore the hat!
You don't want to see me in the beard.
Did I mention how often they Bathe?
I get propane for the forklift at the Amish Hardware store. If you go on fri or sat your in for something on par with the nasal nav aid of Chino's cows.
Overall they are great people to deal with. It is a different culture but you have to admire how they adapt their machinery to fit their beliefs.
