Most beautiful twin to be scaled down in size !?

I am just wondering...if P-38 wasn't a success as a scaled down entity.

I think this plane could easily be scaled down and still have scale appearance in the cockpit too.

It is Hanriot H 232.

FAF had 2 of them in use as trainers.

I think it is one the most beautiful aeroplane ever.

- 2 x 220 hp engines
- 12.65 meters span
- Some 8,3 meters in lenght

That Stearman was a Waco! I'm sure it did require a multi-engine ticket, although there is a centerline thrust endorsement (a la Cessna Skymaster)vs. the traditional twin ticket.

Only thing I don't like about it are the struts...but the concept is clean otherwise..for a 1939 product..finns ordered 22 of them from the french and ended up bying 3 from the nazis.

Last logged 290 hours and was scrapped in 1950.

Do you like the NC600 bomber...that this Hanriot was a trainer for ? It looks little Beaufighterish !

I got me a 1/72 scale model of it...made by chech Azur company.

PS: I think a modernized fibre version in 1/2 scale could be a winner as a sports design..is ( would it be ) it legal for any category ?

I think it looks very sporty ( even in german markings )...lets say in 1/2 size and 100 hp engines on it.

I remember reading an article years ago, in I believe Air Progress magazine that was about a scaled down B-17. I don't remember the scale. It did have some drawings. I don't think anyone ever built one, but was pretty cool. If I remember right, it called for C-85's for power. The turrets could be removed and stored for flight, to lessen the drag. The top of the cockpit opened up to the pilot compartment. Anyone else remember reading about this??

It was Air Progress. I still have the issue somewhere. They suggested that an EAA chapter should build one as a group project. It had 4 VW engines and the pilot we in a semi-reclined position. They did some simple performance estimates and it seemed like it could work. Anyone looking for a new project? :-)

If you are going to build a scale replica of a WWII era twin, why not expand the criteria and built a FULL scale FMA IAe 30 Namcu? I think that would be a sweet project. Plus it could race in the Unlims.

If you want "cool", "wacky", "fun", "man will you look at that" and to have The Only One at Oshkosh AND to have a doable project then try this:

Stick two Thunder Mustangs or Lehole P5151s together (depending on your budget) to get a replica F-82 Twin Mustang. Really, you can do this. Actually, the more I think about it the more I might just do it myself!!
