Stumbled across this on the WIX site. I have never seen this Mustang before. I take it Mr. Smith does not fly at any airshows.

I'll wave the flag for Leroy's racer. My old buddy RLP rebuilt that airplane for Leroy in 1968. When Leroy brought it to Reno in 1969, Hoover ended up using it as the pace plane, and Hoover told Leroy it was the sweetest, smoothest flying Mustang he had ever piloted.
But then again...anyone who flew the first Precious Metal pretty much said the same thing...that it was the best flying, the most 'true' flying Mustang that anyone had ever been in.
Guess when you take the time to do it right the first time.....
