Essentially a 1/4" jack gets spliced in to the wires going into the intercomm, with the 1/4" jack being able to plug in to whatever audio device you choose.

I find it to be a bit of a cumbersome device because of how it is mechanized -- when you transmit over the radio it transmits the music, too. That's pretty embarassing when you're talking to LA Center.

I prefer just putting the ear buds on under my helmet. Reguar ear buds don't cut it, though, because I wear double hearing protection via the little yellow E.A.R. foamies ear plugs. Instead, I modified a pair of Koss ear buds by replacing the stock foam with the yellow ear plugs.

The end result looks a little like this:

The downside to wearing the ear buds is that your back seater doesn't know you're jamming to The Stones, and tries to talk to you normally over the intercomm. The result is that he thinks you're just being a d*ck and ignoring him!

As soon as the shareef was
      Chauffeured outta there
      The jet pilots tuned to
      The cockpit radio blare

As soon as the shareef was
      Outta their hair
      The jet pilots wailed...............

        Randy

Where do you get the greatest sensation of acceleration? Where do you feel like you are getting pressed back into the seat due to acceleration?

Is it on the ground on takeoff, in the air...?

How about deaccleration? Where does the maximum occur? If you pull back quickly on the throttle, do you feel like you are being pushed forward into the seat belts? Do you always use a parachute when landing?

How long does it take to go from the ground to as high as the plane will go at full blast? What altitude would that be, what kind of speeds would you be reaching and what is the best angle for maximum climb?

I'd be happy to listen to any comments you have re the Eagle.

I read Craig Breedloves book when he was pushing the limits on land speed records in a jet powered car. He said that when he pulled his parachutes after hitting 500-600...mph, the fluid in his ears would tell his brain that something was slowing down quickly and visually felt as though he was traveling down a vertical wall. Imagine that. Driving level at high speeds in a jet powered car, hitting the parachute button and praying that it works, and then feeling like you are traveling down a vertical wall.

Do you ever get mixed signals like that when flying and throwing the machine around?

Are the folks flying the A10's happy with their flying time? Flying low, constantly turning, going up and down, shooting things with missiles, the machine gun... looks like it would be a lot of fun. What do the A10 folks say about their practice...?

        Thanks.

Ft Polk, I used to go out there and watch the Tiger Squadron make swiss cheese out of stuff when they cut loose with the A-10's gun. What a blast that used to be.

I've always thought of the A-10 as a giant, jet-powered Citabria with a huge gun on the front. Looks like pure fun.

Randy,do you have your orders for Turkey yet? Or can you say? Or should I not even ask about such things.

Anyway push the throttle to the stops and keep the guy in back awake.

Unfortunately, it looks like I will be on a "camping trip" for all three of the Flying Legends shows on the schedule for 2006.

                    Thanks, Uncle Sam!
