    Re: Conquest I ?

"Super Race" and "Return of the Warbirds", we had those tranfered to 3/4 inch masters from 16MM, but I don't have a reproduction source anymore, gave away all the VHS copies over the years, Boo Hoo. Oh,Yeah and no way to watch the masters, Digitize, yeah that's it.

No worries Speed! And actually I got it a bit wrong on that pic..it's from Udvar Hazy. I did see it at Garber back in the early 80s tucked away in in a dark corner and covered in dust. Nice to see it finally proudly displayed.

The Super race was a 1/2 hour documentary on the Mojave Race in 1975. The Return of the Warbirds was a 1/2 Hour Documentary on the 1973 miami Race from the Focus of the "U.S. Thrift 7 1/4 Percent Special" Which is what Rare Bear was called back then. In addition to those other popular films are "Man for the Record" which is a documentary on Darryl Greenameyer and his 1969 world record. and "Pistons, Pylons and Props" the movie on the 1970 Mojave 1000 race. These are just off the top of my mind.

Ahhh. I think I might actually have seen the "Super race" footage on a TV show here in Europe called "Thrillseekers" 20+ years ago. I think that is where I first saw footage of #76 "No Name Dame" coming off of home pylon. I do have the Greenamyer documentary as well as "Pistons, Pylons, and Props" and a film called Sky High. The latter dealt with many aspects of aviation, including the 1971 races. The narrator claims that all four races were to be visited, but my tape only include Cape May and Reno. Anyone else got this tape with all four races? If there are other race tapes out there please post as it would be cool to compile a list of them!
