When I took my first one, I was so nervous, even though I was driving pretty well at the time, I blew the first round just cause the guy being beside me made me forget everything I knew I was supposed to be doing!
Particularly, parallel parking... which I don't think they even make you do anymore do they?

Just be attentive in that school zone near the Reno DMV. My son got failed for speeding in it his first test, even though the light was'nt flashing (speeding at any time is an automatic fail). The second time he went through it at school zone speed and got points knocked off for going to slow, because the lights were'nt flashing.
Ahhh, goverment...
Get lots of hours Shawn and you'll do fine.

He has a self-imposed rule. The phone is off when he's driving. He has pretty strong feelings on it as most of his close calls at this point have been others with them glued to their ear. He would support a ban!
He went to a local driving school for classes and learned a lot. Got a lot of hours.
He and I went to a one day program called Drivers Edge that travels all over the country. It teaches defensive driving and "unusual attitudes". He got to skid, slide, basically take a car to it's edge and get a feel for what control loss feels like. If it comes to Reno this year GO! It's free (tho I donated) and more than worth the time.Comment

Leo, Does that Drivers Edge have a website or phone number for info? My son is almost 17 and hasn't gotten his license yet. I think this would be good for him also.

The parent does not drive in the program, just the student. I have been driving for 32 years and have had 2 different performance driving classes and I learned a fair amount from the lectures. And my son is constantly referring back to it "dad, remember what they said?".
I would encourage ANY parent to use it if they come anywhere close to you. It was great, the instructors were great.Comment
