Fair is fair. When I was a kid, we knew the consequences, so when we did "bad" stuff, we either did it at home where we were "safe" or we went WAY out into the boondox.. you know, where all the houses are now around Reno..
Like I said, you'd have had to have been there during those days. All a cop had to do is see you and you got arrested. It totally depended on his mood.
I was a perfectly normal kid in that I did all the testing of the bounds that are a necessary part of the right of passage from child to adult. IMHO... don't test those bounds a bit when you are a kid, you're gonna test them a lot more as an adult. I know folks who were the straightest arrows in school who became the biggest F-Ups as adults.
Again, though, it's all a matter of balance isn't it...
