Here are a couple of screen captures showing the postion of the 4 aircraft just before the collision.

Sorry for the blur, but that's what happens when you try to capture stills from poor quality video clips. It actually helps to squint a bit when looking at them.

Frame 1 - Doc is about to pass on the left of Tom's Bearcat...




Frame 2 - The Corsair has passed the first bear successfully and is just about to impact the right wing of Howard's plane, as the second F4U is just coming into view at far left of the frame...
