Doug Polen was a fighter pilot too, and never intended anyone to copy his airplane thus there are no plans for it.
This would be Denny Polen, builder of the Polen Spl. Denny raced in the F-1 class at Reno and elsewhere from 1977-1980. He flew the Miller Spl. #14 Ol' Tiger when it was part of Ken Coe's race team out of the Portland area.

Ah yes, the days when Critical Mass was always called "the great round hope" on this very forum because it was the ONLY radial-engined beast in the field that stood a chance of running with a healthy Dago or Strega.

No question the roundies (well a couple of them anyway) have the edge right now. The big question is will the pendulum swing back the other way, or has the Merlin hit an insurmountable limit?

I used to see the Polen Special once in awhile I was learning how to fly out of TTD in Oregon, I saw him and a bunch of homebuilts take off for Oshkosh one year, what a sight that was, the performance for its time was incredible.
