  • Champions are all in the Sport Class!

I was thinking about it this weekend, what is the total championship victories now represented in the sport class now that skip appears to have made the jump.

There has to be something like 40 championship wins represented.

I mean seriously who is left who hasn't made the jump?

There's a dozen championships right there easy. Up until a year or so ago, Gunther Balz had a Thunder Mustang that I secretly hoped he'd jump to the Sport Class with....but I think he may have sold it.

You are correct in your thinking Speed. The new owner was there with it last year... and from what I remember he has no real intrest in racing it. Can't remember the guys name though... help me out Bill

And let's not make blanket statements (like -- Champions are all in the Sport Class!) that aren't true.
"All" should be stricken from the english language. $.02

Yeah, but you know what? That last place, that 8 out of 8 is more than 99% of the people on this board can lay claim to. Props to you, Hoss!!!

His name is Wayne "Solo" Richards. He and his wife flew into Reno in the plane last year. Nice people. Beautiful plane. I think he is from SoCal.

The point wasn't to offend the race records of any other pilot, it was simply to point out a trend of increasing excitement in the class, which will bring increased interest in the sport from which all of us benefit.

I'm lurkin' with ya! And having a great time looking at the pics and wishing I was that kid sitting on his roof in Lemmon Valley watching still. Hopefully, I'll be there in September to see and HEAR it in person!

The sport class is intruiging because most everything accomplished is uncharted territory at least for that class. I'll be racing a fast little legacy in the Sport Class this year. Should be great fun!

Wayne is from So-Cal, and a really great guy his hangar was next to Zeuschel's Hangar back in the day. He is a good friend of mine and my dad's, He is just finishing the new engine. He has another real good friend named Greg Shaw, and one named Skip, and we have talked about racing the airplane and it might be being considered. Wayne was very competetive racing cars in SCCA and would be an assett to any sport he chose, And I would crew for him in a minute if that is his choice.
