    Re: Blue Skies Dad

    Dear Bill

We are so sorry for your loss. And so happy that Victor made you something so beautiful to remember your father. He has joined the DareAngels who watch over the pilots at Reno.

      Victor,
I know Bill is pretty busy right now, and probably isn't keeping up with this thread, but you nailed it. His dad was the real deal. Thanks so much. A beautiful tribute.

Thank you to Everyone. And Victor, what can I say? That is awesome and tastefully done. I couldn't say how we both felt in words as you have done with the collage. As Bob mentioned, I have been pretty busy this week and I haven't been able to check in. You all are very kind and understanding. It's one of the things that draws us together, isn't it. We are all brothers and sisters of different mothers. I appreciate you all.
            Thanks.
            Bill
P.S. I have found some jewels while working on my Dad's estate. As soon as I can get home and have a little time, I will share them. It has been an amazing journey through my Dad's history.

                Re: Blue Skies Dad

So everyone, I promised I would post some of the gems I found while sorting through the family archives at my Dad's. So here goes. I hope you enjoy looking at a little history. I also found a couple of pictures that my Uncle Frank, (my Dad's brother, in case you don't see the resemblance sent to my Dad during the WWII and Korea. He flew Mustangs in the Pacific during WWII and P-40's prior to the Mustang. He also flew 125 missions in Mustangs in Korea before "moving up" to the P-80. He flew into Grand Rapids in a P-40 during the war and let my Dad and his buddies climb all over it. That was one story my Dad always kept sharp, never embellished. Don't think there are any pictures of that. I found his 3 MILLION mile accident free award that was presented to him by the Idaho Bueau of Aeronautics and the ultimate pilot picture, my Dad standing on the wing of his T-6 after what must have been a grueling flight I also found his logbooks covering his first flight, first solo, all the way through his career. And the patches! The Warhawk Museum is going to get a nice donation of artifacts. Anyways, I just wanted to share. And once again, thanks for the nice comments everyone. It helps, really it does.

And remember...hangar flying counts as 'half time' in the ol' log book!
