If you search the net, he had a couple others....

There was only Bob Hoover, and Bob Love that I ever saw do stuff like that.

But I'd bet this was Hoover

I am surprised no one has ever posted video of Bob Love doing his routines in the 70's/80's
    He was another master.

But I believe this thread is about Lou IV
    :-)

      Re: Lou IV Crash

I was wondering why this thread showed up after being posted in 2007?

        Re: Lou IV Crash

Please please please Wayne...can ya retitle this thread (to something like Camarillo 2007 Lou IV crash)????? I thought another Lou IV had crashed again this weekend and my heart just jumped. Dredging up old crash threads that were posted as news at the time is nOt cool at all. It's not allowed on WIX.

Ah, N13410 before she decided to move South of the border and soak up the sun. This 51 was owned by a dentist (or doctor?) in Texas who painted the Lou IV scheme. It later went to a guy in GA who kept it for a while before selling it. That's when it ended up in a new war.

If I were a betting man I'd say that the 51 Hoover is flying would be Len Tanner's N51LT "Pidgeon Chaser". I seem to remember reading that he used it on a couple of occasions. If so, this is the aircraft:

Possibly, and only possibly the P-51 behind N13410 in the video is Tom Kutchinsky's N6165U.

Thanks so much for sharing this. Always great to see theses glimpses of yesteryear.

I agree with De Camara, not much footage out there of Hoover and the 51. Especially the "Tennessee Waltz"...

In 1974 Jack Flaherty purchased several Mustangs from El Salvador. Among them was this airplane your discussing that was sold to Dan Martin as a basket case which he rebuilt and is now flying as Ridge Runner III.

Identity doesn't matter. Which warbird doesn't matter. Any time we lose one or both is a bad day in aviation.
It is sad that a young guy who was up and coming in the warbird realm has gone to the great hangar to the sky.
It's only going to get harder and harder to own these things as time goes on.
We all need to cherish and share our memories and experiences in the warbird realm with as many people as we can to keep the interest alive and as high as possible.
Fair skys and prayers for the family.

Anyone know a good place to get Super 8mm film transferred to digital? I have a lot of Hoover footage from the good old days.

Does anyone know where any of us can see any of the old Bob Love P-51 aerobatic routines?
Last time I saw one was at Madera airshow....
He used to do some beautiful aerobatics with the Ol' Jolly Roger white mustang..
Anyone remember the super low trademark passes where he'd intentionally kick up dust off the runway with the prop?
then come back for a low inverted pass...
There will never be shows like that ever again sadly.

I always thought that a dual-Mustang routine between "The Two Bobs" would have been jaw-dropping.
