      THANKS!
      Missileer,
Thank you, One of my friends used to chide me for watching old videos of Ford winning NASCAR races when the Ford years were lean. The same person also asked me what was the drive that got me through the "Well, Next year could be good" days of the Rare Bear. I told him sometimes I just close my eyes and watch the Bear win in my mind's eye. The imagination is a great thing to have. I got to meet a lot of people that didn't know they had limits that did extraordinary things. I've had a good life so far.

Currently, I'm enjoying a self imposed retirement from air racing, the current project is restoring an old Mustang car. I thought I'd do my own project for a while. Dave Cornell and I talk regularly so I still get a little jolt now and then of the archives. I still talk with Dwight Thorn and we come up with all kind of fun ideas but few ideas involve airplanes. I think I'd like to go to Bonneville with a streamliner, Pete Law has been going and Randy Scoville was big on Bonneville. Nostalgia Drag Racing with a "just for FUN, not to worry about winning" front engine car (yeah, how long would that last) would be a great adventure. And my biggest adventure yet is sharing life with my 8 year old, I waited until I was 39 to have kids so all the other stuff isn't as important to me anymore.

So I like to share some stories as long as people are ok with reading them, I'll write, when that is gone as it will be someday be, I'll close my eyes and watch Lyle beat Darryl to the the home pylon at Mojave in 1975, I'll watch the Bear scream over my head at 400' AGL doing 541 MPH, in New Mexico.

Cherish every moment, because they grow up SO FAST! My daughter will turn 19 this month and she's developed talents that will take her places. So now I count the days till she's no longer under our roof anymore. Ah heck, she may be here till she's 27, but I'll still regret that day!

Compiled practice clips set to Mary's long program music from Nutcracker.

Thanks John for dredging up my memory, and filling in the info gaps.
I've been going since 1976, and nobody brings those faded years into focus like your posts!

Haven't you been? I thought you were the illustrator, man, who was there with us? My family and I, we had a nice trip to the Chino air show with Dwight and Rose, I got to sit and listen to "the Tige'" and Dwight, BS for a while. Sandy Sanders came by for awhile. Dasher was there. While I was on vacation to Seattle at the locks at Lake Union I called Dwight and he told me more about the locks than the tour guide did.

She can't even date til she's forty! Guys are just jerks that are after one thing, I know I was one! I told my wife the first guy that asks her out I'm just going to kill him on principle when he gets to the door, and have him stuffed with a little audio-animatronic robot inside that has the taxidermedied robot saying "ten o'clock means ten o'clock". It'll set an example for the others to fear, I'm not worried about respect.

Jus answer the door cleaning your shotgun, wearing camo, boots and a big knife. Have "Patton" playing on the TV. Mention that one of these days you're gonna have to "fill in that hole in the back yard".

Ah, the line from "Clueless" --

"I've got a .45 and a shovel, and I know how to use them both!"

(Yes, a chick flick [actually] enjoyed with my wife and daughter.)
