okay, it's not air racing, but I had to blow my own horn

I have officially become an aircraft owner. My husband and I are now proud owners of a 1948 NAvion!!!!!!!!!!!! some assembly is required
anyway, I'm so excited I can hardly believe it's real. Once we bring her home, I'll share some pictures.

the prop and rudder are currently removed. it's been sitting for seven years in a hangar, so I'm going to have the engine looked at. we're going to remove the wings for transport. and of course, I have to verify the ADs are all addressed and check for corrosion. then we have to get it painted (don't know paint scheme yet).
from everything I've found, it was built by Ryan, so it is a Navion, not an L-17. I'm looking forward to going through the log books in detail.

Not true. The L-17B that our family owned was a 1948 Ryan-built airplane (48-1007 / NAV-4-1713).

hmmm......I'll have to do further research. would be really cool if it was an L-17! I'll let you know as soon as I find out for sure. we pick it up over labor day!!!!

Here's the first photos of our Navion. My husband and a friend went to CO this week to take the plane apart and load it on the trailer. It will be back in Chino this weekend.
I'll post periodic photos as we progress on the reassembly.

Oh yeah....It's a Ryan Navion A, not an L-17. But it's still cool!!!
