Yesterday,we burned alot of expensive avgas. Flew in Mike Stephens C.J.'s Bro)Beech Baron to Stockton to pick up prop. Off to Camarillo to get prop parts. Whiteman KWHP next to Van Nuys and Burbank), was the next stop to see Wayne Johnson who just bought California Propeller. It will now be Aero Union Etc, Etc, Propeller shop. Maybe Wayne will chime in here to officially state the name? Its a long one nonetheless. Great guy, more enthusiastic about air racing than an air racer could be! Welcome to the team Wayne and Company! You've really impressed all of us. Expect to see some really groundbreaking propeller technology put from paper into reality with this combination. We should see prop and new prop governor before we head up to Reno he said.
Off to Visalia to a little 3000 foot field where a friend named Norman Stubbs works. Another great guy and alot of fun to talk to. He has HUGE experience with R2000's. I bought some engine parts from him as spares for Reno this year. Looking forward to seeing him in my pit at Reno this year. Then it was back home to have dinner at the new airport restaurant (GREAT)at KSTS where Kirk Murphy and Katie were waiting to have dinner with us. Overall an expensive but great day in the quest for knowledge and truth. I had to keep pinching myself because who could be so lucky to get run around in a gorgeous twin gathering prop parts to have a "SPONSOR" build you a race prop? It's funny how obscure some days are and how you might appreciate one more than another. I feel very, very fortunate to have you folks as an audience and some of you as sponsors. I am amazed at your support. This is a "Once in a Lifetime" opportunity! Thank you

If Aero Union per se is a sponsor, I wonder if some of our artists could come up with a paint scheme that resembles in some fashion, the Aero Union scheme. It sure looks sharp on P-3's and P-2's. Just a thought. Good luck and am looking forward to a great week in Reno.

It was a pleasure meeting with you and Mike at Whiteman Airport. I have been an air racing fan since the 70's and have only missed Reno twice as I recall. I have never been in a position to offer real support to a team, although I was an honorary crew member on Jim Bennett's "Tinker Toy" T-6. Being in a position to support a great guy and racer is a dream come true for me. I am also working with some great talent in the industry down here at California Propeller, Keith Hironaka, Glenn Hironaka and Gil Iwamasa. The talent of these individuals is legendary. A true honor for me to be working along side of them. We will be moving the shop to Chico sometime in October and the official shop name is Aero Union Corporation Propeller Services, of which I am the General Manager. You can check us out at www.Aero Union.com. We have started the tear down inspection on the prop and hope to have it completed in a week. Go Steadfast!!!

So far, I think we've just about covered the fuel expense to get the prop to the prop-shop!

Thank you Marco and Robert. Thanks to all of you who support us. This is amazing. We actually have plans to make a "RACE" Pratt Whitney R2000. Larry Childs of Designit Prototype does that kind of thing. Pete Law says we will be going from 1450 HP to almost 1800 HP this year with the ADI system he has designed and built for us since last year. Larry thinks we can make another 4-500 HP by normal hot rod techniques with no problem. Now we are getting up to R2800 HP. Thank you guys again for all the donations.
