You betcha. When looking at sleeve valve engine you can admire how clean looking they are on the outside, but look at the cutaway drawings and it's enough to make your head explode. Especially, a Napier Sabre!

It seems complicated enough just to have pistons recipricating in a cylinder and then you add a piston recipricating within a sleeve, within a cylinder. Oh, and the sleeve is rotating too! It just seems to be complete mechanical madness. Tre cool though.

The Wiki entry has a good breakdown of advantages/disadvantages:

Looking at that engine cut away, it looks like a swiss watch on the inside. You gotta love a 56.3 liter engine however. It will trump a Chevy big block any day. But go one bigger and the R4360 takes the cake. You want a big block, well there is no replacement for displacement, and thats a whole lot of displacement. (Well I guess there is a replacement for displacement; forced induction, but thats a different subject.)
Centaurus engines do sound cool and a big 5 blade hanging out front just looks cool.

Yes but...71.5 liters AND forced induction. Just gotta love a 4360.

So not only is it mechanical madness, but none of your spanners will work on it either.
