Re: First Time
In 1964 I hadn't even seen a live warbird but I bought an Argosy magazine that said they were going to race in Reno. My cousin had a license so we rented a Piper Cherokee and flew up. In Reno they said we could tie-down during the day but there was no overnight parking. We didn't know what the situation would be so we had thrown two sleeping bags in the back so we flew down to Carson City and slept under the wing of the plane! We didn't see the whole program but several days we flew back to Reno and caught a bus out to the Sky Ranch to watch.
Then I got drafted and couldn't return until 1968 but I've been there most years since.
