All of Steve's family and friends ask for and appreciate your prayers and support. At this time, we do not have any information beyond what is on the news services. The CAP had to suspend their efforts this evening due to high winds and darkness (the search is primarily visual). The Nevada ANG is coordinating their efforts with the Air Force.

Members of the Fossett LSR team will be participating in the search starting Wednesday morning. Anyone who wishes to assist us is urged to contact the CAP directly.

Re: Steve Fosset, prayers go out

We have been out all week on the ground. Today they brought in sidescan
sonar on Walker Lake. As of 7PM nothing. Hopefully they will be back
tomorrow. A dive team was called in from Oregon to look in the lake.
CAP, Military and many civilian resources involved. So far nothing. The valley he flew out of is very remote. Other than the Flying M and a couple of mines ther is nothing for miles. We four wheel and Quad it regularly but
never alone. No cell service at all. We use 2meter radios and sat phones
on our searches. Planes have been lost in the area before and not found
for months or years. And then only by a hunter or cowboy stumbling on it.
The search will continue and with gods help he will be found.

Jim, I'm sure this has been considered but if he had a heartattack and the plane was full of fuel it could fly for some time. Do you guys know the general direction of flight and about how far out or where that scenario might put him?

Re: Steve Fosset, prayers go out

A few of us rode motorcycles up Hwy. 88 yesterday and saw the C-130 making passes over the Eastern end of the mountains looking for Fossett.
I'm hoping that they find him alive and pissed at being out for so long, but at this point I think it'll be a recovery mission.

Is it possible to see an object size of a Bellanca from the space using a satellite of some kind ?

                            I hope for the best.

Amazon has setup a "Help Find Steve Fossett" area in their "Mechanical Turk" image analysis system. Anyone can go there and look through a number of images for signs of the plane:

There's a story on AV-Web about the process:

                              Cheers,

                              Geoff S.
