We are in the final stages of resolving the issues with the forums move to the new location. After talking with tech support, the only solution was to send him a copy of all the images. This will take time - but we know the fix SO it's only a matter of time now.

      Lol, no surprise there.

Let's just hope they get the Witch healthy for tomorrow, but 232 is looking awfully dominant this year. Let's just say 232 looked and felt a whole lot faster than the 460mph range quoted. After passing the Buick and the Bear, I dare say Tiger was barely closing on 232 when he had to quit.

Stopping at the pit tonight ... They think they've burned a piston if not more.

Not sure if they will run with the back-up motor or use it to get he plane home.

Eh..well...I feel uneasy TO A DEGREE...posting these comments...& I will advise ALL, that I'm a big Strega fan......& if you check my comments from a couple of years ago this won't sound unusual, or rude.

How in the world, with all of the experience this team has...with all of the super-"trick" parts they have access to...can they "burn-down" pistons in a water-cooled engine in a heat-race?????

Big cart w/all the telemetry stuff....& they can't even keep it together for a week????

Don't start with me...I'm too old, have built & raced too many "real" motors to see this poor of a performance from what should be a #1, winning aircraft.

I am really dissapointed,as are many fans I suspect. Rag on me all you'd like, I'm done.

Greg.. as I'm sure it does others, your post pisses me off a bit.. How in the world can you post something like this with your "raced too many "real" motors as your validation for writing it?

Were your "real" race motors for airplanes?

Give the guys on Tiger's team a break.. He went out and ran hard, if, indeed, she smoked a piston.. that's racing.

I'm sure we don't need anyone trashing their hard efforts...

Let's keep the commentary here on an even keel and not trash any teams.. they sacrifice WAY too much to have to read this sort of message here!

              Thank you!

When "things" were better for the Strega team with their winning ways in '87 and early to mid '90s, Tiger, more often than not, would say, "Sometimes you just get lucky."

I'm sure that Tiger's intention on Saturday's heat race was to apply enough power to move into second and be on Mike Brown's hip for the start of Sunday's gold. It is indeed frustrating when "bad luck" happens at power settings that, most likely, were going to be lower than what they anticipated for Sunday.

Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised to read that whatever caused the meltdown was beyond their control. Piston metallurgy that doesn't meet a spec, or ADI entering one chamber that is 0.5 ml less than the other eleven in an instant. Who's to say? There are just too many parts to these engines - not to mention airframes that are approaching 60 years of age.

There is a portion of the sport of unlimited air racing that is, IMO, beyond the team's control and does require "luck" to push through it. They try to minimize the odds and "extend the fuse", as the cliche goes, with technology, talent, and experience. And yet that very small element beyond their control still remains.

Anyway, it is for that very reason that I find what Tiger and his team do, (and others out on the ramp) relentlessly pushing and pursuing, to be one of the most remarkable and courageous things I have been fortunate enough to behold in my lifetime.

                  Go Tiger, go!

Man I've been watching Tiger race for years. I never bought the totally stock deal. Maybe not full tilt boogie motor, but definately not a stocker.

I really wanted to see what he had up his sleeve for Sunday. Oh well, next year!

Based on his Saturday performance (closing on MB/232), I believe he could've run with the Bear Sunday, but we all know how Strega has been responding in recent years when Tiger asks her to push. The Witch has been grumpy, but she has a magnificent owner and team. Sunday's race was all round-motor after VooDoo checked out; let's hope Tiger and Team can resurrect some of the V12 nostalgia with a solid performance next year.

****, it looked like MB and Tiger were trying to fly the Sunday Gold a day early this year!!!

I saw Tiger briefly in the pits and asked him,"so how stock was that motor?"

Grinning, he replied, "ah, it wasn't stock at all.."

If you look at the names on the right side gear door, all will be answered.
