Strega's Stocker (?)

OK, I thought I'd start a new thread for this. Here's a couple of shots under the cowl. I didn't have anyone running out of the truck to smash my camera, so I don't think I'm realeasing privileged information here.

Let the speculation begin. Merlin experts, please offer your opinions.

That last one is just me taking a picture of myself in the spinner.

It wasn't me who said "stock". I see those bars bolted to the side of the crankcase and while it may not be a full-blown racer, it's sure not stock either. With that clean airframe I just wonder how wild the engine has to be to make 450 MPH.

No, the motor is not the stocker Tiger spoke of several months back, but without one of the clues on which you've picked up, it would be very difficult to tell. Suffice it to say there are not just Merlin parts in Strega's powerplant this year.

Just how much more is he willing to push her, and for how long?

Will she contend with the round engines, or settle for 3rd?

I don't care what she has in her, I just want to see Strega race all week. I am tired of seeing her in the hanger with no engine attached.
I think that she can handle Dread for second if there is nothing left in her.

There is just something awesome about an Unlimiteds driver (or any air racer for that matter) who refuses to settle for anything but GOLD!

Late this afternoon during the final Unlimited race, Tiger flew her around at what sounded like very low power settings. He just orbited Stead (and then Reno when the race started) very smoothly and slowly... I'd say his total flight time was 25 minutes. Then he landed and they put her to bed. Nobody was working on the Witch when I left about 8pm.
