Talked to the Relentless team...they lost boost. A hose popped off under g-load. It is believed the hose was too short and instead of flexing it pulled loose, and so the aircraft suffered sudden loss of power. It was a safe landing and repairs and adjustments were well under way at the time of my visit.
The report is correct and I expect to be ready for today's Race. Although I have lost the huge opportunity I had in pole position as a result of Jon's pyon cut earlier in the week, Relentless was absolutely stunning off the line Saturday and if she will hold together today I am certain the race can be had!
For those of you that are following Relentless but cannot be here I want to thank you for your support and enthusiasm! I came here this year to give it all and today you will see how truly amazing an aircraft the NXT is.
BTW, with only 44 inches of manifold I still averaged 359mph and lapped most of the Legacy's!! That was fun
Kevin - Thanks for the update. Glad to hear the problem was fixable and that you're ready to go. I'm looking forward to watching you and Mr. Sharp go at it...methinks we might see the first 400mph Sport Class lap this afternoon.
It is always great to get updates strait from the teem. Thanks for taking time out from your sleep, and schedual to keep us informed.
You and teem Relentless are top notch!
Sure am glad that I got that right. Sure am glad you got Relentless down safe and sound. It was great watching you and John go at it today, I'm already looking forward to next year.
