Anyone ever heard of a Vulture engine being used for air racing?

I read that the Vulture was more powerful than the Merlins, but far more unreliable. I'm sure someone along the way figured they could solve any unreliability problems, but reap the power gains.

Just curious. Thought I would start a thread for a change.

I may have just answered my own question. Found some more information on the Vulture. I didn't realize it was an "X" configuration engine.

Next question:

Anyone know of any operating Vulture engines?
