a few more. Notice that last one, Marine Corp F-16 aggressor, with interesting paint! (I'm guessing this is similar to the Russian Navy paint?)

        Dash:

Did the Collings Foundation have any planes there? Years past they would bring their F4 Phantom and Migs.

        Thanks!

There were 4 F-4's at the show, two flyable! The Colling's Foundation F-4 was there. I didn't get to see any fly at the show. The S2Tracker was there, and the TA-4J Skyhawk was there. The Skyhawk is on the first page of photos. That was all that I know of that was there from the Colling's Foundation. The CAF had a lot of planes there, and the Lonestar Museum had several including the B-17 and B-25, P-47, Spitfire, etc.

Dash, Thanks for posting those great shots, especially liked the B-25 and the A-10 pics. Do you know the story behind the special blue/yellow paint job on the F-16?

The F-16 is a 90th anniversary of one of the fighter squadrons and painted in the original (probably pursuit squadron) colors. Very nice, wish I had taken more pics of it!

The weather Saturday was much better than when I got there on Sunday. Took alot of photos...the weather was against me. I had a great time and didn't get sunburned for a change.

Re: Wings Over Houston Airshow Photos

Some good pics there Mailman. Unfortunately I didn't make Saturday at all, only Sunday.

I talked to a guy that I know last night and he told me the story of Stu Dawson was flying the Doolittle B-25 "Special Delivery" during the bomb run portion of the airshow. I saw this and thought, that thing is flying like a fighter, it was movin! Low altitude high speed pass with bomb doors open and then pulled nose very high up and rolled over a good 45 degrees at least on the climbout. Apparently there is a cargo box in or near the bomb bay area for overnight airshow stops and the door departed on that run! This guy asked Stu why the door came off, that it never had in any bombing run before. Stu replied, "you probably never got this plane up to 280mph during the bombing run with the doors open before!" They had that bomber seriously wound up!

Also said that Doolittle's copilot (name?) got a chance to fly the plane during the airshow from the right seat. Pretty cool history there.

Re: Wings Over Houston Airshow Photos

Doolittle's co-pilot was Richard Cole according to the Doolittle Raiders website.

I don't know, sometimes the weather results in some dramatic shots. I particularly like the shot of the super guppy

I kept my camera out while stuck in traffic on the 3ish mile drive back home. (should've walked) I really expected to see a funnel drop out of those black clouds!

I actually got more burned on Friday before the real show, watching planes arrive, than on Sunday.

Here's a couple more from Friday that sort of made it.

Re: Wings Over Houston Airshow Photos

The Collings Foundation had a strong presence at Wings Over Houston. All of the aircraft that surrounded the TA-4F Skyhawk were either Collings Foundation aircraft or are affiliated with CF - Houston. We had UH-1E, Mig 21 two seat, Mig 21 single seat, BAC Strikemaster, S-2F Tracker, F-4D ( ANG static that we just helped to repaint ), and on Sunday, the CF F-4D 65-749 ( which was just repainted in Robin Olds colors ), and the TA-4. We also had our PX there and you could fly our F-4 Sim.
