Re: Historic Pylon Bar - History
Ahh yes, the ultimate question and the answer.. from what I saw in September, is a resounding YES...
I completely hate to see the pylon bar go but.. From the new owner's standpoint, that hotel was a loser and he HAD to do something to turn it around.
Face it folks, Air Race fans go to Reno, at best, for a week in September and a few days in June.. Even then, the bar is not that busy. What I saw when I was there in Sept was a VERY VERY busy bar on friday and saturday nights...
A lot of folks have migrated to the bar up by the hotel elevators because, though the waitresses are nice to look at, you can't hear chit...
I only wish that there was an Air Racing Museum where the Pylon Bar could have been, at least, partially recreated...
Nutton to get mad at the hotel management for, they're just trying to make an aging Reno hotel profitable.. I wish them success, wish they could have fit the Pylon Bar into their business model... REALLY wish they could have kept "The Garage"!
