VERY cool pics Victor. Thanks for posting those. Nice to see the blue skies, and not that overcast/smog haze you can sometimes get at Chino.

And if the POF could get a couple more unlimiteds to show (Sept. Fury, Voodoo, Dago) and stick a few pylons in the ground, we could have the Chino Air Races...

I'm pretty sure this is the case.. sort of pinching myself at both the historical significance, and the lack of usual "speculation" in this thread...

When this happens... (Tige passes the torch, to a former racer's son) IMHO, this is HUGE... MONUMENTAL stuff...

History of the sport unfolding before our eyes stuff..

Just seemed like it'd bring a bigger hoot than it's brought..



If everyone already knew, then this is a failing on the part of us "build the excitement guys"...

We're supposed to play the "I know something you don't know" game and get everyone wondering..

I'm not going to say what he said but, given that there are some guys who visit this board who really OUGHT to be at RENO and, for whatever reason.. (usually, being old and retired) can not see their way clear to get there.. why can't we, the netizens of aafo.com, set up a donation fund to "get the relics there" (NO OFFENSE!!!!!!!)

Due to the amazing ability of the net to connect us all with, otherwise, completely "obscure" people who have made an amazing contribution to racing and... for us, more important, Air Racing.. we learn that some of these guys would love to make RENO but lack the last mile to get there..

Hell, we've done it before.. we raise a couple grand, spark a sponsor or two beyond the initial fan-sponsor effort and we arrange a block of rooms.. some meetings..

That would be HUGE news! Not to diminish Stevie's limelight as he appears to be an EXCELLENT pilot from what I saw at Chino, but does anyone know how much experience or hours he has in warbirds? It seems like just a couple of years ago I read that he had just soloed the L-5. Does he have enough hours to even go to PRS yet? What exactly are the minimums, does anybody know?

That would be a nice "passing of the torch" to the next generation of air racers. How cool, and to have the very best instructor on the planet for warbird flying/air racing!
