  • Rule Changes

Over at airrace.org they have posted updated rules for the races this year. I looks to me that the most noticeable change is the takeoff procedures for f-1 and biplane. My read is that the takeoff on 26, then turn around scatter pylon is history. It was cool to watch but always looked a little crazy.

Do the various classes lay rules on top of this or is this it?

113 days to go. Can't wait!

That's just nuts! How does it happen?? Every year, we wait, wait and wait, then it's june and PRS and before we know it.. RENO.. then fall... and long winter.. and it's never going to be warm and sunny again and we wait...

    We wait and contemplate...

    Now.. 113 days!?

I don't think I realize how much I live for this event until someone writes something like 113 days and I lose my breath for a second and feel like I better get moving, plans to make, things to get ready.. should I start packing????

    113 days...

According to the rules you have to be 18 to attend PRS, yet you have to be 21 to race??? Call me confused???

Probably 18 to be on the ramp during practice.

No it's 18 to fly in PRS, but you have to be 21 to race in September.

Gee that makes a lot of sense (18-21)...
I wonder what the thinking is on that?

If they no longer take off and go around the scatter, how do they turn around? Or do they takeoff downwind?
I will admit that the scatter turn always seemed a little hairy, and I've seen two crashes over the years during it (tho neither seemed caused by it particularly, just set up the circumstances) but what is the alternative?

Three years of PRS before being able to race really doesn't sound like a bad idea for a teen. JMO.

They will takeoff on 32, turn left and join the course at pylon four, the back left corner.
