Naw. Trying to keep things together around here. Everything about the whole Reno deal has changed since Art went away. I sure do miss him. What a life force he was to the whole group. We still have a great time but it just aint the same without him.
Wow! How that brought back memories. Thx for the pix.
When I had arrived at RAR for the first time, the events had just ended for Saturday. We went out to the grandstands to look around and saw the BF sitting out on the runway on it's belly surrounded by people, and many of the crowd were still walking out there to examine it.
To this day, I don't think I've ever seen crowds allowed to walk out to the tarmac/runways like that after daily performances were over, for any reason.
Steve -- Ed is one of my real heroes. It amazes me to think of what he gave us -- the stuff he saved 50 and 60 years ago when nobody else cared. I talked with his daughter Karen a while back, and she says he still gets out to play tennis several days a week.
You bet Neal. Ed Maloney is a class act. His entire clan is equally just about the same. Took him out to pylon 6 in my old pickup truck the saturday before Steve crashed the Baron. Crocker had just passed Steve and Ed remarked how odd it was to see that happen. The both of us were taking sound 8mm junk and have it for all to see. Long time ago.
Dont think it is possible to download 8mm stuff to the site. Perhaps one of the computer gurus could advise. I'm in trouble it it is possible as I dont know just where it may be hiding. Could ask Fast Ed for his. He never throws anything away. Just look what he has collected.
Did you ever have hair Steve?
I remember back in the early-mid 70's when the Air Museum was a couple of lots at Chino full of pretty neglected looking airplanes, along with a couple of hangers. Many of the publications were putting Mr. Malony into the same crackpot category as Walter Soplata. Little did anyone know the contributions he had made and would make to the saving of history. Walter also as it turns out.
Wish I could see the pics Neal, all I get are red x's. Mine from that day have never been developed!
I get shaved every St Paddy's day (St. Baldrick's day if you will) fundraising for kids cancer research. I look like Uncle Fester. Luckily it grows very fast!
Soooo...How long before the thread hijack police shut us down?
