What class would a Wildcat participate in? It obviously wouldn't compete with the unlimiteds, would it?

Does it normally compete with the canopy partially open?

What????? Why would someone run a Wildcat in the unlimited class? It can't possibly keep up with likes of the Mustangs, Bearcats, Seafurys, etc, no matter how much it's modified.

She runs "sweep" in the bronz class. Nice to see her up there!

Has to qualify at 300 mph to race in the unlimited. THis year qualified at a blistering 304. Saw him flying it a couple years ago in a race with the canopy open. How cool is that? Try that in Strega or the Bear.

I love seeing photos of a Wildcat mixing it up with the more glamorous warbirds. If it hadn't held its own against the Zeros, there wouldn't have ever *been* a Hellcat or Bearcat. Tough little fireplug of an airplane.

I thought it was pretty cool that right after the Silver race, while on the cool down lap Steve Sr. brought the T-33 on Steve Jr's wing for a second or two then broke off and watched his planes land. I think Steven flew a good race for his rookie year.

Don't know if "compete" is the word to use but it sure is cool to see and hear it each year. Someone has to act as a speed bump...
Hinton Jr. flew nice, smooth and consistent lines. Gonna be something to watch with a faster ride.

There's something just "Right" about seeing such a young man in the cockpit of a Wildcat. That picture could just as easily have been taken on the Yorktown in 1941.

Great image Victor, and while I wasn't there to witness: Great flying young Mr. Hinton

                              Cheers
