Posts made past 02:30PM 12/30/24 won't be on the new site!

Well, things are going to happen in rapid succession now... I'm going to do a final database backup at 2:30PM CST today. After the vBulletin team gets it - the new site should be operational "with all posts" soon thereafter. Then following a series of checks, and if all goes well, I'll post a link to the new forums here soon.

Wing size doesnt really have anything to do with G loading as far as the aircrafts concerned. That would be more of a wing loading issue that you are talking about.

It sounded to me like he was playing with the gear handle and emergency gear extension handle. But I was too busy freaking the hell out to pay super close attention.

Sure it does, the shorter the wing the less stress on the spar.

What I mean is. Your wing size has nothing to do with stress on the aircraft its self. The wing isnt the only concern for over stressing. And your comment goes along the lines of wing loading.

Yes, on the third pull of the emergency release handle while pulling the positive G's, the gear finally went down. I was standing next to him while he described the incident to a fellow pilot.

On a Bearcat the spar is what you should be worried about. They are not designed or rated for more than 7.5 g's. No matter, the plane was far from being overstressed anyway and better to have a little cracked bondo than a smoking hole in the ground.

If your pulling that in anything other than an unlimited aerobatic aircraft you have other problems lol.

That's funny...I was just up pulling 8.5+ plus in the F-15, and didn't think anything of it.

And are you trying to rub in the fact the F-18 is only 7.5G-LIM Randy????

                      You said it, not me.

Of course, in a slow speed fight the Hornet will eat me for lunch.

OT -- Lots of compromises with an EZ -- you won't operate off of grass, no spin, stalled or snapped maneuvers, limited baggage with two aboard, and off-field landings when necessary are best executed on smooth or hard surfaces. Other than that, it is an extremely efficient, responsive and fun airplane to fly. And a quality glass structure will last virtually forever and is EZ to repair if necessary.

Here's a fun vid of my Long:
