If you can't pass on the inside, than how is a racer to pass another airpane who flys the deadline during the whole race? Of course Tiger had to go inside, it's nearly impossible for a Seafury to fly the same line as a mustang and the faster airplane has to get by somehow without cutting the deadline.

Flying the deadline is a strategy. Essentially a type of blocking. It means whoever can pass inside better be good, be able to complete it, and really want it. High and outside cannot be done on a deadline flyer, so...
