This is the "Legend" , built by Jeff Ackland. It originally had a N/A 496" BBC installed. Sounded fantastic.

I havent seen how much extra room there is between the engine and the firewall since the rebuild after the off airport landing after sun-n-fun 2 years ago, but he did say he moved the TIO-540
foward 8 inches to correct aft CG situation. Which makes the IO-780 seem like a more reasonable
proposition (or a Twin Turbo V-8!).
Wonder what prop will be appropriate for 800+ HP. on NXT. Is there a hub that will accept the present NXT blades?
Still-the cooling scheme is going to drive me crazy to I see what they have in mind for the Trace Racer.
I know Kevin and his crew will GIT ER DONE.

Kevin, wouldn't it be more economical and faster to just modify Relentless and repaint it, or is the new airframe going to be trimmed down to a single seater? Also, are you going to have the exhaust exit similar to the mustang, or a tuned exhaust system? Just wondering.

Just a guess on my part...
The Trace installation is probably significantly different than the current setup and I'll bet Kevin has a long list of things he'd do differently given the chance. You learn a lot the first time building plus he's assisted several NXT projects after building Relentless.

I have no doubt that Kevin and Andy will get this put together and it will be fantastic. I just hope it's in time and debugged for '09. A Super Sport with 3-4 NXTs and a few Thunder Mustangs in the mix will make for an awesome week of racing! I'll be 33 and the "Egg" will be faster next year as well.

Speaking of Andy and Aerochia, what's the status of the other NXT projects in his shop? Or anywhere for that matter?

I heard 10 kits were made, and the last one has indeed been sold. The last one is possibly the one in Parker's American Airracing hangar.

Yep your right. From Kevins site

NXT Kit 10 has just been sold to Franck Doyen of Design Tech Centre in France. Mr. Doyen is planning on completing the last NXT kit in time for the 2009 Reno Air Races. His team plans on building the kit per plans but fitting a turbo diesel engine designed in France. We will post more detailed information concerning the details of this unique NXT right here on this web site.

Maybe even bigger news is that the completion of kit 10 marks the end of NXT production by SLO Air Inc. Just last week several of the molds where returned to Nemesis Air Racing. Once the last few parts are completed and delivered to Mr. Doyen in the coming months SLO Air Inc. will be closing it's doors for good.

I have enjoyed the relationships I have developed with the 5 new NXT customers we have found and fully intend on doing everything possible to help them complete their NXT kits as quickly as possible.

This web site will continue to show the progress of all the NXT's as they take flight!!!

SLO Air is not closing! We are not building NXT's but will be finnishing the Sbach's for sale and building the Trace Racer!!! "Tracer"


Relentless is for sale once we can demonstrate 400MPH+!!! Few weeks, stay tuned!!!

Hey Red -- On the other AAFO Relentless thread, Kevin used the name "Tracer"! I posted the same name idea over on WAP, but you got me by about 4 hours! Brilliant minds, buddy! I can't wait to see "Tracer" in action. I'd also like to see a TIO-800 in an NXT fully tweaked. And with a GTSIO-520 going in another one, there could be some VERY intersting Super Sport racing on the horizon. Will they hit 425 next year? How much smash does Nemesis have left? Peas
