    Re: Who's on first??

I too thought this year's T-6 racing was very interesting. I always enjoy the sixes though, and have many friends in the class. It was good to see a new winner for the second year in a row -- nice after several years of pretty much the same players on top.

I have material to do a thread on the T-6 Gold racers, if anybody's interested...

That first one looks like a formation flight on an air to air shoot. Great shot, and nice seeing you again his year!

            Re: Who's on first??

Hi Paul -- Where were you at Reno? I never saw you (that I remember anyway -- it was an awfully full Reno and some of it's a bit of a blur).

Regarding the Nikon D3 -- During PRS I had myself talked into it, but the price is awfully steep and I talked myself out of it after PRS. I bought a D300 instead, which I love. It has a lot of the same technology for less than half the price and has the smaller sensor, which I prefer.

Unfortunately for my bank account the Nikon guys were at Reno in force (2 reps plus Moose Peterson, 2 service guys who were kept busy cleaning sensors and dealing with broken and abused gear, and a couple of young ladies helping out when things got busy!). I got to use a D3 again for much of the event. There is something about this machine that makes me better even than with the new D300.

So who knows -- I do like this thing an awful lot -- though the D300 is not exactly a slouch, as shown by the Dancing Queen shot here or the Biplane shot above. All the rest in this thread were with the fancy one.

Ultimately, this fancy gear doesn't really seem to improve my depressingly poor percentage of real successes -- no technology makes up for deficient technique or skill. But it sure does make the occasional success look really good...

            Maybe I can find a used D3...

Well, the T-6 thread is gonna take some time to do so will have to wait for a couple of weeks til I get some publication and deadline stuff out of the way. In the meantime you all will have to settle for some more randomly chosen general racing pics...
