Ya I would quote it up for a teardown insp whether the SB required it or not.

It's less about the money coming in from the work as it is ALL the money going back out when the bonehead fly's his airplane into a mountain side.

Of course everyone gets sued including the guy who bought off the prop strike as minor 3 years before but the lawyer argues that the airplane was not making enough RPMs due to the prop strike 3 years ago.

You see, if he had the RPMs he would have made it over the mountains, the lawyer would tell the jury. Never mind the IMC conditions with a non-instrument rated pilot.

Too bad you are not far off there. I am sure that happens all the time.

Never mind the fact the guy took off from a 9,000 foot density altitude airport with about 500 lbs over gross, he had a prop strike 4 years ago the engine hasnt been right since lol! Boy oh boy...

That is exactly how it happens.............we work on so many airplanes a year that a lawsuit is always in our sights.

We have been part of dozens of "shot-gun" lawsuits..........but we have a great lawyer that has never lost for us.

It is part of the job. Doing quality work will save you everytime, but that also includes the manufacturers SLs and SBs.

I have been doing this full time for 25 years. And the 18 years before that were totally involved in aircraft restoring and repair and growing up aviation.

I wonder if that is why some aviation people stick to gliders/sailplanes?
