Nobody has mentioned the Transition either. I think this has about the best shot of any of the cars to fly. I think that it looks pretty neat, definately got some good knowledge going into it. I also like the idea of landing at any GA airport and driving to town even if the FBO doesn't have a courtesy car.

Great google video of the car flying.

Is the motor that powers the wheels to the car the same motor that turns the propellor?

How many motors does it have?

Why is the man turning the propellor by hand? Is that how you start it or is there an electric starter?

Here is another version of the Aerocar in flight.

The flying Pinto is interesting also.

It would be interesting to take a Austin Mini and put wings on it. With todays high horsepower motors as compared to when the AeroCar was built, wonder what people build today?

There was a single four-cylinder Lycoming engine which could be declutched from the prop drive and clutched to the wheel drive.

There was a dry fluid coupling between the engine and prop shaft to reduce transmission of torsional loads between the long propshaft and engine. As I understand it, the "dry fluid" (hardened steel shot) would settle when "roading" the car. To avoid excessive vibration and coupling wear at startup, it was a good idea to turn the prop shaft a few times to redistribute the shot.

I met Molt Taylor at his hangar in Longview several years ago. At the time I was pretty interested in his Imp and Mini-Imp designs, and that was pretty much what we talked about. Very interesting person.

            Hello HT group,
I was doing some I-surf tonight and found this forum.
My father builds scale flying models and I collect Ford Pintos.

I actually own the flying Pinto!
Well there were 2 of them 1 that flew and 1 that was on display at Galpin Ford.
The one that flew crashed and I own the one that was just a demo model at Galpin.
            COOL site guys!!!

                Welcome to the board.
If you've got any pictures, I/we'd love to see them.
Most of the shots available are both small and dated.

                Thanks,
                Paul

Is the flying Pinto put together? Would really like to see it. Where is it located? (PM me if you don't want to go public with the info.)

Collecting Pinto's? THAT is eccentric! Cool!
I have a neighbor that has a Maverick in perfect condition (a special edition in brown, orange and yellow paint and decals), and a Mustang II. He says he just likes odd, unwanted cars...
Welcome and PLEASE post some pics!
Nobody has mentioned the movie star version of the aircar in "Man with a Golden Gun", an AMC Javelin with a jet engine...
