John Sandberg Tsunami

Can anyone tell me if John Sandberg lived or had a residence in Scottsdale, Arizona?

I found a reference to a Mitsubishi Mu-2 as a chase plane the day Tsunami crashed. Was that John's airplane?

John's MU-2 was indeed used to chase Tsunami on ferry flights.

Matt Jackson also confirmed he flew this very airplane.

I flew this plane 2 weeks ago for a friend that is thinking about buying it.
When we pulled the FAA records I saw a John R. Sandberg bought it in August is 1991.

Sold a year later out of a "Trust".

August 91? Only owned it for a month!!!!

Bought it August 5, 1991.
Transferred into his Trust on 9-5-91.

His Trustee sold to another party on January 2, 1992.

Wow, good stuff, thanks for sharing. If i remember correctly the NTSB report on Tsunami's crash includes a witness report from on board the MU-2 which was following Tsunami on the approach when the accident occurred. Not a year goes by that I don't sadly fantasize about the potential of that airplane as a racer.

If I remember right, that MU-2 was in a couple scenes in the Skyfire video about Tsunami. They even have some from inside flying over Wendover. I'm pretty sure Sam Torvick says in an interwiew on that video that was flying that Mu-2 behind Tsunami when the accident occured. All very sad, Tsunami was my favorite and the whole team still holds a place in my heart.
