    Re: "Stop wasting warbirds"

And finally my thought on Chuck's comments. I read the article and was frankly horrified. Then I read it again and realized it was the sort of ramble I'd expect from someone older and sort of "losing it". The jump in topic at the end slamming the spoiled rich kids was like some grumpy old man yelling at the neighbor's kids to get off his lawn!

So I admire the man for his accomplisments. I acknowlege his amazing skills. And I respect his right to express his opinions, no matter how poorly thought out and wrong they may be.... :-)

        Re: "Stop wasting warbirds"

Finally got my hands on a copy of the February "Flight Journal". WOW...sounds like someone needs their ego stroked! Can't remember the last time I read an article with so many "I"'s in it. And, what's with the Roush love fest? Could these be the words of a lonely old man with nothing but memories to thrive on?

Don't get me wrong, I have been a big fan of Yeager since I was old enough be a fan of anyone, and I have tremendous respect for his accomplishments. That has not changed.

The races is where you go to see what it did. Fly Fast, Fly Low, Turn Left.

              Re: "Stop wasting warbirds"

A while back there was a thread about someones' P-51 being painted in Yeager's markings. Yeager's personality got brought into it and there were many of us who have had personal contact with him and the stories about him were horrible. At least I knew he treated most people like s**t and not just me. And I do not give a damn how good a pilot he was, it does not give him license to treat people so miserably. If someone were being a pain in the ass to him it would be one thing, but you can politely try to talk to him and he will act as if you are the biggest idiot in the world. Even the pilots whom he was close to will acknowledge this type of behavior in him. People who apologise for him have'nt had the "Yeager experience".

                Closing thread

Folks.. I'm going to close this thread.. I think the subject has been pretty well covered, summed up and now we're getting to the "beating a dead horse" stage with it...

I think the earlier comment by Michele can be the final comment on this subject...
