I am just sitting in my office when all of a sudden I get a mysterious message on my voice mail. Its smoot saying he went 472 MPH at rookie school and I beeter watch out. My question now is how many pylons did he cut on the back side? The other point I need to make is the only time I have seen his ass end is when he is walking away from the bar.

Any news fron anyone on the L-39 with the blown tire?
My daughter and I were standing on the ramp after the jets had launched, and a very nice gentleman came up and asked her if she'd like to put on his headset and listen in as they formed up and prepared to enter the course. Naturally, she said yes, and he and I had a nice chat about racing. Turns out he's the crew cheif of Race 25. Never got his name. About 15 minutes into the chat, I notice over his shoulder that his airplane is making a pretty hot short final, and I point that out to him. We both watched as the RH main smoked the tire after touchdown for quite some distance before it blew, and the L-39 jumped off of the North side of the runway and ended up perpendicular to the runway itself. He bolted off in a golf cart, and we watched to see what was up.
Apparently no one was injured, but I'm sure that some adrenal glands got a workout. Word on the ramp was that Curt Brown was in the back seat.
Any more details would be appreciated.

Word on the ramp was that Curt Brown was in the back seat.
Any more details would be appreciated.

Talked with Curt's wife, she said right after they took off (Curt was in back with "student" in front) they asked for a form up to see if anything was hanging.. (Curt was still out there with the plane and no one had any further info) She confirmed that they did the hot approach and landing, tire smoked, then blew and off they went.. Curt was busy on the raido when I came back later, so I left him alone.

Dunno exactly what happened but did not look too bad from the ramp (damage) and best of all, all human participants were AOK!

BTW.. Curt and his wife are two of the best folks I've ever met!

LOL Matt.. didn't put a clock on him myself, no pylon judges on the course but I'll testify, I've never seen/heard that little sucker sound/look soo good!

I think Sherm's got his boots laced up pretty tight this year!

Last year at the races, he was kind enough to let my daughter come inside the ropes to snap a few pics of them together with his raceplane, and spent some time talking to her about aviation and science. Nice guy, for sure.
