Cool shot. When the Thrust SSC set the world land speed record at Black Rock in the late nineties, (1997?) the same phenom was visible on the playa when it broke through the barrier. I have a newspaper pic somewhere that shows it pretty vividly. I'll try digging it up and posting it.......
