I guess we will all see when the time comes. I did not know, but it has been pointed out by several people who do, that 232's engine simply will not fit in the Bearcat. I guess only The Shadow knows.

As for NOS, you need an engine that's capable of running to begin with to use NOS.

I am thinking that the engine being put together for Bear is a conglomoration of the usable parts of the three: SF's, CM's and Bears. So no, it's not the complete engine, (won't fit) and no, i don't think it's fuel injected...........There's enough unknowns already, without trying to fuel inject Bear too. I'm thinking that they'll stay with what they know, and what they know will work for Bear. JMO

Wayne you are correct about purging. You typically "purge" the system right before running to remove any air that was trapped from changing the bottles and to correct bottle pressure to your desired operating pressure.

Why would they do any of this is they have not run nitrous for years?

All the more reason to purge th' pipes to clear out any nasties that may have accumulated in the system over the years, like condensation fluids, especially if there's been plain air in there for awhile. You don't want anything but clean Go-Go gasses feeding your engine when needed the most.

Afternoon,

I'm with t-dub on this.

The engine that will probably emerge on the Bear will be a combination of major parts and assemblies from the engines that were available to the team.

The engine from 232 will not fit due to the PRT section it has, and it's fuel injected. Again I agree with one of the previous posters that the final configuration will probably be carburetored as the team is familiar with that configuration. So the final engine will most likely be 232's main section with the blower assembly from last years Bear engine with a carburetor.

Work involves removing the PRT section from 232's engine and replacing it with the blower assembly from one of the other motors. The important thing is to clean the donor blower really good. Especially if it is one from last years engine. You don't want any foreign material being spun around in the the blower case that may lodge somewhere, that somewhere being not a good place.


All this work being done in a hanger is a challenge. Just trying to keep the assembly area clean is going to be a challenge. Finally their main issues to resolve will be the mating of components and lines, and the lack of time to get the engine done, installed run up and the ground found squawks fixed. Not to mention flying the thing and then working out the flight squawks. There running short on time. But what the heck the paint looks nice.
