Posts made past 02:30PM 12/30/24 won't be on the new site!

We are in the final stages of resolving the issues with the forums move to the new location. After talking with tech support, the only solution was to send him a copy of all the images. This will take time - but we know the fix SO it's only a matter of time now.

Thanks again for your patience,

The majority of the wreckage is stored somewhere while pieces are scattered about in private hands (some skin and engine mounts)

Wee Willy carries the same N number N7715C as the RB. I always liked the "poetic justice" of Steve owning the "rebuilt" Baron.

I've heard there are still small bits out in the desert (and I mean bits) but have not looked, basically not real sure anymore where the crash site is within a few hundred yards.

If you're talkin' about the Pond Racer, Nah, there's nothing left there anymore Leo. Someone even went so far as to completely trash the memorial plaque that was there for Rick. (a$$holes!) I found a few small broken remnants of concrete that used to be the plaque base. Some land developing has been done in the area too, (grading, leveling, etc.) so anything that might have been left is either buried, or displaced somewhere else.............

I was talking about the RB. Some work has been done out there but the "rocky knoll" would have been hard to work with. Been looking on google but have not pinpointed it close enough to want to go walking around. I was out there the day it happened but while I have driven through there recently I still am not sure.

Who would have the brass to ask Mr. Hinton to sign a scrap of the a/c that almost killed him?!

I just followed a photo link from one of the early posts, and came up with this. Very likely the poorest excuse for an RB-51 kit ever made...

Ow. That doesn't answer the question, it changes the premise.

                          Again, ow.

I've tried to use a version of that photo before to get close. Also ones I took that day. Just gonna go out and walk around.
I had Steve sign a copy of a photo I took that year of the RB being towed out for it's award for being world's fastest. He got pretty excited over the shot, explaining who everyone was and got Rob Patterson to sign also. All others in the picture have passed away in the years since then. I have had the occasion the past several years to talk to Mr. Hinton several times, I think he would probably be more than willing to sign a "shard". He, his family and crew are all great, and they pit surrounded by some of the friendliest entry's there!
