    Re: War Birds Movie

Ummmm..... Hmmmmmm..... Seriously???? LOL! Why is it that every movie that has the potential to be cool by adding warbirds, is beyond lame? At least they got the sound of the mustang correct... oh well... some fun friends and a bottle of GOOSE, will be the order of the night to watch that! LOL!

      Re: War Birds Movie

okay all you non movie industry curmudgeons, I am here to help.

What you saw is called test footage, sometimes called promo reel, sometimes called a "Pilot" for tv shows. The production team gets together and films a bunch of interesting looking stuff and cuts it together into a little short and says "Check this out! wouldn't this be a great movie? See all this cool stuff we can do with real airplanes, this would get people into the theaters for sure!......so you wanna give us some money so we can make a real movie?"

They used a t-6 because no one is going to let them yank their Gustav around the sky for something that doesn't really pay.

Its nice to see there are some film makers out there who know that bad computer animation that ignores physics is no replacement for the real deal. If we are lucky that team will get some money and make a real picture. Maybe they will call it Thunder over Reno II?

I'm up for that. Look it's a movie. I just hope I can watch it with some warbird guys so we can laugh at the Yak-9 being used as a Gustav.
I look at it as I did Pearl Harbor. I don't care what the story is as long as they have great aerial footage. Even if Private Ryan was a good movie on it's own. The finally with the '51's was truly icing, just the great filming of the flybys.
Look at all the classics from the 50's and 60's. Take off in a Wildcat and fight in a Hellcat land in a Corsair. I didn't care. My wife gets mad at me pointing out the flaws but I still watch them over and over again. It's flying and that's what counts.
Just as long as they get good quality footage and it don't end up on the cutting room floor, I'll pay to see it.
As long as we can keep people putting these great planes on the big screen I'm behind them.
Iron Eagle III was the most lame of lame movies but the flying was worth watching.
Git'er done boys. I'll pay for to see it.

Flyer, i totally agree.. If the flying is good, i dont care much about the movie... i think a couple of my favorite movies would have to be battle of britain, tora tora tora, and the early flying scene in the original Iron eagle with the Cessna 150 Aerobat
