This has just been one of those really bad, hard to cope with days in our lives.. and I just wanted to quickly explain a bunch of post edits I just did.
In their zeal to get the story out and get the job done today, the local station, in this situation, simply put out TMI...
I was on the road today when the news reached me and was able to reach Beach Boss via ATT Wireless (shameless plug) and asked him to login as me and ensure than no family members learned of today's events, initially, from this site.. Mike (Beach Boss) did an absolutely great job of doing our part in this effort.
All of this said, I've edited out a few links contained in today's posts that I'd rather be found elsewhere..
I did not know Al really- I Interviewed him a few years ago...I thought he was bigger than life.....so dedicated, sincere, a 'regular' guy that loved flying....Prayers for the Goss and Ballard families.
Today was a really tough day for the flying community, w/the tragic loss of two outstanding professional aviators, who were both truly fine gentlemen- Al Goss & Steve Ballard.
All our hearts & minds & spirits suffer together, over their untimely departures to The Great Airport in The Sky. We pray for both of them & their families & close friends, while extending our sincere condolences & sympathies. May God Bless You All.
The Air Racing Motorsport has lost one of its' champions & one of its' greatest ambassadors ever- Capt. Al Goss. As others have stated in this thread- Al Goss & his wonderful family & Team Warlock crewmembers have blessed air race fans with their warm & enthusiastic hospitality for nearly thirty years at Reno & most every other air racing event & yes- they have that special charm that makes us feel like we're all genuine welcome members of their family, more-so than any other race team. The annual Warlock Ramp Parties celebrated the reality that air racing is really indeed, -one big close-knit family & we all grieve together in sadness. Yes, the air races won't be the same, for sure.
Dear Randy, I don't have your current personal contact info, but know our thoughts & prayers are with you - please be strong now & thru the coming times, old friend. May the warm memories of all the many great times you & your family had together w/your Dad, help carry you through these rough seas.
"Blue Skies Forever"- Captain Goss!!! Thanks for all the years of friendship, outrageous parties & sensational air racing competition flying. You'll always be one of 'The Best of The Best'!!! (Sure gonna miss ya!)
Great job Wayne you did it right. There will only be one Alfred Goss. I'm still in tears tonite and will be for awhile. At 77 I'm still a kid watching the air races. I'm at a loss but this really hit hard & your web site is family. A part of me is gone but not forgotten. Thanks again.
Randy, Our Prayers are with you and your family. Everyone knows and has already said your dad was such a great and welcoming friendly guy. He was great to me even when he didn't know I was your friend. God brought home a very special man. If there's anything Monica or I can do, please don't hesitate to ask, you have our number. Even if it's just to sit around and talk for awhile. We love you and we're hurting with you!
