Re: Spitfire / Me-109 Air Racing
Cool video!
Do you know where and when it was shot?
Who owns the 109?
What is the powerplant? Is this a restored 109 or manufactured old/new?
Any info you have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for sharing.

Re: Spitfire / Me-109 Air Racing
BKB...
The 109 is a G10, that was restored/had the G10 canopy field modified from a Spanish Hispano by Hans Dittes in Germany. The 109 is powered by a genuine DB605, this particular airframe was the star attraction at Warbirds over Wanaka 1996..
This years star attraction, the SOCAL CAF wings Mitsubishi Zero is here in NZ, and is on its way to Wanaka as i type this...... 5 sleeps to go, and ill be there!race fan, photographer with more cameras than a camera store

The video clip is from Steve Connor’s “One Summer -Two Messerschmitts” and can be ordered from here http://www.flyingmachinestv.co.uk/DV.../DVDStore.html I have the DVD and it’s very cool.

Re: Spitfire / Me-109 Air Racing
This Me109 is now owned by Messerschmitt Foundation in Manching/Germany and nearly airworthy (landing gear problem at ILA Berlin Airshow 2008).
Here is a clip from Manching Airshow some years ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cNuavtY0rE
My dream is to have a RR-Griffon returning to Race again in Reno
