Ya wheel landings in the Pitts gets the pucker factor up pretty high. I am really excited to see this thing fly Kev!

      1. The prop clearance is not a big deal, I trained in a Pitts before flying Relentless doing wheel landings and I am sure the clearance is less. You must always land nxt on mains and fly tail to keep heading.
      2. I am far more confident in turbo prop from reliabilty, I flew same engine on my Conquest for many years. Issues are always systems onthese sort of projets. Fuel, beta, cooling. That is why it is experimental.
      3. Airframe, I have been over 350kts ias and will not be to stressed until we get above that, slowly.
      4. Take off weight should be aroun 2200 lbs. So at over 4000 lbs of thrus the climb should be ok. Ie. What is the thrust to weight of a F18? Yea baby!

I will be looking closely at the plane today and udate what I find!

Btw, everyone please check out my new website! http://www.myairport.com it really cool!
      Kevin,

Darn you....my buddies and I are having a active debate on Speed and Climb rate for the NXT now. We are discussing the "Cube Root" factor and our numbers are all over the board. My guess is that the climb rate will be outrageous and I don't know what to guess on the cruise speeds. I would love to see the test runs.

Could it run in the jet class? Not that it would do 525 or so (or could it?) Just wondering if turbines would be allowed in that class...

Awesome project. Would rather see turbines fly in the jet class than have their own (unless they have a backwards race on the runway ).
          No pixels were harmed, honest.

prop turbine class needs to be pushed. It would be very "sporty" flying in all that jet wash.

Let us know when the first PUBLIC flight (I know sometimes builders don't want the "public" around), I'll come out.

They would probably let the turbo-prop run with the jets... until it beat everyone, then the jets will want their class back.

props and jets DO NOT MIX well.

It would be cool to see it in the Pace/Safety Plane role for the Super Sports if there's no where for it to race.

                            Yes,

I flew up last week and did a once over inspection. I like what I see and owner is eager to take my input about some small changes, mainly to protect my butt!!! Not sure why I am turning into such a wimp lately?

I am looking forward to maybe doing some engine runs during PRS week!!

                            Stay tuned!!

                              Kevin,

Does the Lycoming Thunderbolt deliver those mentioned 500 hp or does it ( did it ) have another engine in it than Jon Sharp had on his ?
