Newbie question,
If the plane and pilot are not at PRS, well atleast the pilot, how will it race? I thought you had to have a licence to race and it has to be for the same class as the airplane you flew at PRS?

BOBOS the French fighter pilot qualified last year at PRS so a quick check ride in NXT during QUALIFYING AND THEY ARE IN!!!

I hope they show up, it will be an interesting addition. I'm guessing the first year will be testing/development. Will they stuff the turbos in it this year or next?

They should re-phrase that to the fastest MOTORSPORT.

The fastest RACE was the space race, which the USA won with it's Saturn V (5) rocket at a top trans-lunar speed of 24,207 mph, listed as the fastest speed ever traveled by a human (relative to the Earth that is).

Yeah that speed is a funny thing...Rutans SS1 went mach 3+ but air speed indicated 20+ km/h !!!

It's already turbocharged...I wouldn't hold my breath for any records..... Maybe fastest diesel powered aircraft in a silver race. Somewhere on there sight it mentioned the hp in 200 range.

It's already turbocharged...I wouldn't hold my breath for any records..... Maybe fastest diesel powered aircraft in a silver race. Somewhere on there sight it mentioned the hp in 200 range.

Just a note regarding this diesel engine, it is rated at 230hp @2200rpm which provides 550 ftlbs of torque. There is a listing of an exp version of this engine at 300hp which if at the same rpm would produce over 700ftlbs of torque. Not bad numbers, will be interesting to see how much they will push the engine.

Those crafty French engineers figured out how to install wing and make it removable! Everything fits into trailer and then it will be shipped. A sponsor is sending it to Canada and then they are flying to Reno. Very cool plane, short pilots though.... lite!
